There’s nothing quite like pride in your hometown or state, and with these prints from Thimblepress, you can sing yours loud and proud! Jackson, Mississippi-based Kristen Ley created this series after being inspired by the quote from Lady Bird Johnson, “Where flowers bloom so does hope.” As First Lady, she sought to beautify the Washington, D.C., area by planting millions of flowers.
The State Flowers print (above) measures 18×24″ and is a four-color screen printed illustration of all 50 states illustrated with their specific state flowers. Below, the color schemes for the individual state prints are chosen based on the flowers themselves. For example, for California, the poppy, and for Washington, the Pacific Rhododendron.
Kristen’s prints have an effect not unlike Lady Bird’s Washington, D.C., gardens, and as a nod to her muse, each print ships with a packet of wildflower seeds to help spread the joy of fresh blooms.
