Clare Elsaesser is a Jenner, California-based painter. Her interest in fine art was originally piqued when she could draw perfect bubble letters in junior high and felt more comfortable socializing with wild, artistic people than her peers. At the encouragement of her friends and family, she attended art high school and college, eventually turning her Etsy shop into a full-time business.
A lover of routine, Clare rises early to get the “business stuff” out of the way, then quickly digs into sketching and painting. Her artist process includes time to look for inspiration images, as well as plenty of time to chain-drink tea. Inspired by “daydreams, retreat, and the formidable nature outside her window,” Clare uses matte acrylics, wooden panels, heavy, textured watercolor paper and sewing to create her paintings and prints. Each of Clare’s pieces have a magical, dream like feeling to them, almost like you’ve slipped into a garden full of secrets.
